Lawrence, formally of Felt, then Denim, Go Kart Mozart and Mozart Estate. A singular talent and man and pleasure to meet him and talk briefly outside of the Betsey Trotwood in Clerkenwell.
Lawrence here is standing next to a young man wearing a “Go Kart Mozart” T-shirt which made his day as he still wants pop music to be a multi-generational experience.
A quietly spoken but very witty man he was amused by “The Drunkees” which I showed him quickly and we seemed to talk quite easily about music and art.
I’ve now seen the film about him:Lawrence of Belgravia
He’s a cracking and mercurial song writer.. 10 album with Felt and now the Go-Kart Mozart records which are pure 70’s laced pop full of catchy hooks and wry lyrics. He set something off in me and I’ve started to make music again.
