East of Eden were a British progressive rock band, who had a Top 10 hit in the UK with the single “Jig-a-Jig” in 1970. The track was stylistically unlike any of their other work. Although some might consider them a symphonic progressive band, others state that their style is mostly jazz-oriented

On the Decca offshoot “Deram” label. Really very groovy Folk-prog-rock with prominent electric violin. Surprising how contemporary and fresh this sounds for a 70’s album. Jig-a-jig has some fabulous percussion but it’s an overall interesting listen if you like your Steeleye/Fairport/Pentangle/Trees axis. This is definitely something you’d play happily at a festival. Found my copy in New Hope in Croxley. RIP Dave Arbus - I’m listening to East of Eden a lot at the moment. Amazing musicians.
