Kraftwerk - Radioactivity

The joy of finding this in some tiny little backstreet record shop in Tontine Street in Folkestone in the mid 80s. It was a lot harder to find records then (pre-internet). I think I picked up Computerworld in the same shop.

A sometime melancholy but experimental record - one of a run of extraordinary albums. New Order would sample the Chamberlain keyboard choir for Blue Monday.

The shop (long gone) was very near to the site of the Tontine Street air raid in 1917. Tontine Street has now been re-developed as has the old high street leading to the harbour. I’m fond of that town as I walked around it regularly as a young teenager. The wonderful old museum with it’s musty smell and Egyptian mummy has been closed as it’s too expensive to repair. Opposite the old museum was a guitar shop in the 80s (then still a bit rare) next to a blue plaque where Hendrix once played.
